Favorite Shot

Focal length of lens:15mm

Shutter Speed:1/1600

Effect of shutter speed:Catch the motion of the #20 car with no blur.

Aperture:2.8

Effect of aperture:Caught most of the race track with the cars to the left racing in. The aperture caught the motion of plenty cars and has no blur.

Position:I think the photographer was in the stands but on the ground. Or maybe he was near the stand where the guy with the flags are, near the starting and finishing line is.

Balance

I think this one shows balance by the firemen. Also all the wrecked things behind them. There is an even amount of things on each side. If you split it in the middle, both sides are about even.

Simplicity

This one shows simplicity to me because there is nothing in the backround except the sky and the only thing you see is the peoples' body. There isn't much going on and it isn't active. Not much motion going on from the people.

Avoiding mergers

This one is avoiding mergers because the man with the fireman cap isn't cut off much, only his bottom half. The other thing that is cut off is the man to the left. Some of his face is cut off and all you can mainly see is some of his face and and a little of his uniform.

Rule of thirds

I think this one shows the rule of thirds because the lady liberty statue is in the foreground with the smoke and buildings and the middle of the photo is the buildings in middle ground and from the shadows lurking over the buildings to the end I think is the background because those buildings are a little back, they aren't on the same level as the others.

Lines

This one shows lines by the buildings pointing down and it leads your eyes down to the man walking. The buildings on the left are verticle and when you look at all the buildings, they just lead you back to the man walking.

Filling the frame

This one fills the frame by everything outside the windows. When I first look at the photo I see the man and then I start to look out the window and see his point of view. The whole frame is filled but on the top of the photo is the wall and on the right side. The frame is filled by the shattered walls outside and all the smoke.

Negative Photo Critique

For my negatives, number 8a was a little out of focus. The rest were in good focus.
Photo 9a and 10a are in great focus. Those two images have people giving an expression in both.

Jostens contest

Filling the Frame
I chose this image for the one with the filled frame because when I look at it, I look at the black wires sticking out of the golden medal pieces and i just follow where they go and it leads my eyes to a different part of the image. The first thing I see when I look at the image is the boy, then I see the wires and follow them until they are out of the image.

Action and Emotion

This photo shows great emotion and action because the boy that that has the lighter has a happy emotion on his face. The other boy with the glasses is making the action because of the fire that he created. So the boy with the glasses created the fire and the boy with the lighter has the great emotion.

The Story

I think this tells a story about a teenage girl just going through high school. I think she's showing the people in the background moving at a faster motion because maybe she just wants to take it slow. She is the only one not moving at a fast motion which makes me think that maybe school is going by slow for her or she is struggling.

Inspiring

Contest:ATPI Environmental Self Portrait Contest

What makes this photo powerful to me is that I think the girl you see in the eye is maybe how you would see her in real life and if you look closely, you can see that smile on her face. The lighting is bright outside but exposure is in black and white. I think this person purposely took the picture of the eye with her standing in that exact position so you can see her face.

The Camera

What is same about my pinhole camera and an SLR Camera is that the pinhole and the lens on the camera do the same thing for your camera. What's different is that the SLR Camera has a lense that you can adjust while my pinhole camera can only get the exposure by the pin hole.
